UWB radios need not be
either complex or costly
- Our goals are to:
- provide
academically interesting and useful UWB design information
- promote interest
in UWB experimentation, especially among students
- disseminate
information about UWB
- Watch this site for
design details on:
- UWB antennas (it's
physics: no mystery, no magic!) CLICK HERE
for a CHEAP
design
- We
predict that the UWB band in Europe will start at 3.6 GHz compared with
3.1 GHz in the US. Why? The Euro Cent is 16.5 mm in diameter compared
to the 19 mm diameter US cent. Their cheap antenna needs be 16.5/19 =
3.1/3.6 smaller!
- UWB transmitters (is
it really that simple?)
- UWB receivers (just
a small handful of parts?)
- UWB propagation (for
pulses it's just radio without the Rayleigh fading!)

The World of Regulations:
- In the US, operation
of UWB devices
is governed by
FCC part 15 Subpart F and part 15.209 (CLICK for PDF) in addition to
other rules such as the original FCC Report and Order
dated 22 April 2002. Be sure to
consult the latest regulations -- they are updated regularly!
- The
International Telecommunications Union (ITU-R) has issued a Report and Recommendation
- The
European Commission have mandated that the member nations implement the ITU-R Report and Recommendation
